Rotating Layout Picture

Located in Mineral Springs Park in Pekin, IL, the River City Model Railroad Club has an HO Scale layout with over 900 feet of mainline. The layout is powered by a Digitrax radio DCC system, but a single DC Locomotive can run on the entire layout. Phones and other devices capable of running with the JMRI Wifi Throttle can run trains as well.

Informal meetings are held weekly on Thursday evenings at 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Members usually run trains or work on the layout during this time. If you'd like to see the layout at another time, please contact us at rcmrrc@rcmrrc.us to schedule an appointment. Operations are rather informal, with a general train-class system usually respected. Operators are completely responsible for their train, they build it in the yard, run it on the mainline (setting up meets as necessary), and handle any local switching required.

Directions: Use the center park entrance off of Route 9 (next to the old mine car display). Proceed to the top of the hill to a brick building. This is the administration building. You are welcome to park in the lot across the Southwest corner of the intersection. Go to the West (left) side of the building and you'll find a staircase that goes down to the basement. Please feel free to come in and see us!

Contact: Please direct questions about the club to rcmrrc@rcmrrc.us. You can also find us on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/rcmrrc/

Portable Layout: At the Illinois Central College train show, we display a portable 4x8 layout. Pictures of the construction and show displays are available here.
